Summary

This trial with 28 participants found that SHUTi (Sleep Healthy Using the Internet), a cognitive behavioural therapy delivered online improved insomnia in cancer patients. Over 6-9 weeks patients were guided through modules covering sleep problems and how to manage them, all from their own device without the assistance of a health professional. Participants reported improvements for the time it takes to fall asleep, the soundness and efficiency of sleep, fatigue and for insomnia severity. The program was developed in 2010 in the United States but is available in various countries now. If you suffer from insomnia, give SHUTi a try through our website. A second research paper reports how SHUTi participants felt one year after using SHUTi – their sleep was still better compared to the control group that did not access SHUTi.
