About the speakers: 

  • Dr Jim Whittle, Medical Oncologist, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. 
  • Dr Jordan Jones, Neurosurgeon and early career scientist working at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and University of Melbourne. He completed his PhD through the University of Melbourne in 2021 for work investigating blood-based biomarkers in brain cancer. In 2024 he became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons Australia after completing his neurosurgical training. He was awarded the AANS/CNS Neuro-oncology trainee award in 2022. 
  • Dr Lucy Gately, Medical Oncologist. Dr Lucy Gately is a medical oncologist at The Alfred Hospital where she is Head of Neuro-Oncology, Cancer Genetics and Clinical Innovation. She is also a clinician researcher in the Brain cancer centre as part of the Personalised Oncology Division where she leads a program of research focussed on clinical and data and research-enabled infrastructure. She holds a PhD in brain cancer survivorship from the University of Melbourne and finds the intersection of her research and clinical work invaluable in the battle against brain cancer. 
  • Dr Joseph Sia, Radiation Oncologist, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. Joe Sia is a Radiation Oncologist who specializes in the treatment of brain and intracranial tumours. He holds a PhD in tumour immunology from the University of Melbourne and is primarily interested in studying the molecular and biological effects of radiation therapy in brain tumours. Joe also leads neuro-oncology based clinical and translational research studies and is an active member in collaborative trial groups.
