Summary

This reserach article reports survey findings of 201 patients with a brain tumour and their use of social media to manage their disease. A majority of patients used the internet and social media sites to find information about their disease. Concerns about privacy and how the data would be used was a reason to not use the internet. Be aware that the survey was undertaken in 2014 and since then social media use has most likely increased. Patient preferences and concerns guided the development for this website, BT-Online. This article is easy to read. It is the second of two articles published by our team, that led to the creation of BT-online. The first article is an overview of online interventions for cancer patients.
