Webinar topic: Support for Carers.

A brain tumour diagnosis affects not only the person with the brain tumour, but also affects their close family and friends. It can be overwhelming to find yourself in a role as a ‘carer’, and challenging to know what to do or where to turn to for help in different circumstances. It is important to be able to find support not only to help you with providing care for your loved one, but also to look after yourself.

We invited a panel of guest speakers from four different support services to speak about some of the supports available, and to answer any questions you might have.

About the speakers:

The webinar was moderated by Prof Kate Drummond, one of the Chief Investigators on the Brain Tumours Online research team.

The guest speakers on the panel were:

  • Clem Byard, Clinical Nurse Consultant from Cancer Council Victoria.
  • Sarah Everitt, Managing Director and Co-Founder of MediStays.
  • Di Saward, Research Nurse, CarerHelp Project.
  • Sue Poscic, Carer Gateway Engagement Coordinator, Carer Gateway.

While the speakers represent organisations and support services in Victoria, there is information that is relevant for you if you live in other states and territories, and/or may give you ideas of similar services available to reach out to interstate.
